Did you notice a malfunction in your Bosch washing machine?
The SM shows the error code E02 on the display, which means problems with the electric motor of the machine. When the washing program starts, the drum does not spin, or the program does not start at all.
What should an ordinary user do and how to fix the situation? You can call the wizard, or you can try to fix the problem with your own hands.
Attention! Error E02 on the scoreboard is critical. If this is not resolved, the wiring or motor of the Bosch washing machine may catch fire.
What does the error E02 mean: solutions
You can try to solve the problem without interfering with the washing mechanism. To do this, do the following:
- Check if there is enough mains voltage for SM Bosch to work. If not, you may need the help of an electrician.
- Disconnect the machine from the network for 15-20 minutes. If, after a reboot, the E02 error is reset, it means that the reason was a failure of the electronic controller.
If the recommendations did not help to remove the error, then proceed to the search for damage and repair of the part.
Causes of breakdown and repair
The motor is an important part in a washing machine. Thanks to his work, the drum rotates during washing. Therefore, if you do not solve the problem, you will not be able to use CM in the future.
However, the cause of the breakdown may not lie in the engine itself.
Brush wear
80% of failures when E02 is generated are caused by carbon brushes of the electric motor.
Over time, they wear out, as a result, the motor stops. What signs may indicate brush wear:
- The washing machine, as always, collects and drains water, but the drum does not spin.
- You hear a noise and notice sparks under the Bosch washing machine.
How to troubleshoot if error E02 is lit:
- Unplug the washing machine.
- Disassemble the Bosch washing machine.
- The engine is below, under the drum.
- Remove the drive belt and disconnect the motor wires.
- Remove the screws that secure the motor.
- Remove the engine, wring out the contacts of the carbon brushes.
- Remove the brushes. Check: if they are almost or completely worn, they need to be replaced.
Rotor Bearing Malfunction
If you hear a noise while spinning the laundry or notice a leak in the tank, the reason for this is water entering the rotor bearing.
What to do to solve the problem and reset the error:
- Install a new electric motor in the Bosch washing machine.
- Remove the motor, remove the rotor. Remove the protective cover from the bearings. After cleaning and processing, grease the bearing.
- Completely replace the bearing.
A fairly common breakdown is considered to be the deformation of the axis of the rotor. In this case, the user can hear rumbling sounds while the motor is rotating.
A new rotor must be installed.
Failure of the tachometer
The tachometer - Hall sensor - controls the speed of rotation of the drum.
What signs indicate a tachogenerator malfunction: the drum spins abnormally fast, then stops, gives an error E02.
If you notice this “behavior” in the Bosch washing machine, then you need to check the tachometer with a multimeter. A resistance in the range of 70 Ohms is considered normal - the device is working properly. If the appliance is broken, it must be replaced.
The last thing to check is the engine itself. A multimeter tester will help you with this, whose indicators should normally be from 1 to 7 ohms.
Very rarely, a fault code is displayed due to a malfunction of the control module. However, if you have eliminated all other faults, check the module as well.
Block replacement or board repair may be required. Before you remove the problem, think about whether you can cope with the repair yourself. If so, stick to our recommendations.
